Spanning tree sim - confused - contiva - 10-28-2009 I'm having a mental block with Q S.22 ( spanning tree sim). if host A needs to contact Server 1 and given the information in the topology - surely the link between Switch D & Switch A would be up? Without link costs there are multiple permutations - am I missing something from this question..... Either A-D or C-D could be blocked, likewise A-B or B-C could be blocked.. please convince me A-E-C-D is the correct answer ??? thanks in advance Re: Spanning tree sim - confused - contiva - 10-29-2009 ok - packet tracer has convinced me - the real route is A-E-C-D......... Re: Spanning tree sim - confused - jakesteramma - 12-10-2009 Does anyone have a good answer to this question? I happen to agree that one cannot determine which path would be blocked on switch D. For example: if the link between switch D and switch C was 100Mbp, the link between switch D & A was 1000Mbps, and the link between switch A & E was 1000Mbps, wouldn't STP block on the 100Mbps link? To me, the answer given is a bit vague. Just because switch A's link to switch E is the root port, doesn't mean the traffic has to follow that path. Can someone please give a more detailed reason why traffic would follow the A-E-C-D path versus the A-D path? |
