Path of a Packet
#1
(QID:S18) Testlet1 - Identify the path a packet takes in a network.

Question 1 of this Testlet confused me.  The explanation of question 1 states that, "The destination address 192.168.1.255 is the layer 3 broadcast address for the subnet 192.168.1.0/24, but a router discards broadcasts by default, therefore, RT1 will drop this packet because it is not a valid host address.

I understand that 192.168.1.255 is an invalid host address, however it is the Broadcast address for the subnet connected to that router (RT1).  Why would "RT1" drop it, instead of sending it out the LAN interface?

Ah that had me stomped also but then you really have to read the answers supplied, None of the answers say to forward it to the LAN network. The closest answer that would come near that is "forward it out all interfaces but as we all know routers don't send out broadcast to all interfaces. If it did it would broadcast to the serial interface who is on a different subnet, and a WAN port. That is impossible.
