  Passed my ICND2 Yesterday!
Posted by: agutthon777 - 08-25-2011, 03:42 PM - Forum: Exam Experience - No Replies

It was kind of rough.. had 43 question and a few simlets and I think 1 actual sim...  But I got through it. How2pass was really good.. the only issue was that none of the simulation on how2pass was on the exam. Alot of the simlets was... and most of the multiple choice question was there was pretty easy...

  Passed ICND1 Today!!! Whoo Hoo!
Posted by: Slider55 - 08-01-2011, 10:07 PM - Forum: Exam Experience - No Replies

Ok,

Well I passed with a score of 950 out of 1000, had to have an 804 to pass.  There were 50 questions on my test and 1.5 hours to take it.

Advise: Use the How2Pass testing to check where your weak areas are.  I use this method a couple of weeks and was still not feeling 100%. Was only getting 85% on the final tests using 60 questions. I felt I needed 90's or better.  Use your time during the tutorial to write down a subnet table for quick reference, you know like multiples of 4,8,16,32, all the way to 256.  Every second counts, this will help save you time to spend on more difficult questions and possibly save you at the end of the test, especially if you end up with 60 questions. Anyway there is a lot to know and this helps you with zeroing in on weak spots.

  Passed ICND 2 yesterday!
Posted by: ninjagaiden78 - 07-07-2011, 03:37 PM - Forum: Exam Experience - Replies (1)

Hey all,

I passed the ICND 2 yesterday and it was tough! Different from ICND 1 in the sense of there were quite a few scenario questions that make you think. How 2 Pass was a great help, but you also need to know the theory behind the questions. There are three things I would suggest when preparing for the exam. First, I suggest reading the ICND 2 book by Todd Lamle because that would give you a great foundation. Secondly, use How 2 Pass. This is a great program, but you will not pass the test on this alone. Finally, study, study, and then study. And when you are tired of studying, study some more. Seriously, I don't think I have studied so much in my life. But it is worth it. Good luck to you all. Everyone on this forum is mad supportive and is a big help.

  Passed 965/1000 - 07/07/2011
Posted by: peterc1985 - 07-07-2011, 10:55 AM - Forum: CCNP ENARSI 300-410 Forum - Replies (1)

Hi guys,

Passed ROUTE exam 07/07/2011 with a 965 - H2P bob on the money again, now on to SWITCH!

4 Labs:

-SPF Stub: Area and PID of 35
-Redistribution: I was asked to make sure telnet worked between R1 and R4 but the telnet command wouldn?t work
-Virtual-Link: Same
-PBR: different next-hop IP

Drag and Drop:

-Whats needed for OSPF
-Stub/Authentication/Redistribution/Bandwidth Management

Questions were pretty much the same with an IPv4 > IPv6 conversion question.

Cheers,

Peter

  Passed CCNP Route 930/1000
Posted by: hrtbrkd - 06-28-2011, 12:42 AM - Forum: CCNP ENARSI 300-410 Forum - Replies (1)

Scored
EIGRP - 93%
OSPF - 83%
BGP - 100%
IPv6 - 75%
Redistribution - 88%
PBR - 100%

Used the following items to study:
Cisco Press Book - I must say this one is well written vs old BSCI book.
CBT Nuggets with Jeremy.
Used my own real routers since GNS3 latest version is unstable. (3) 2621xm Routers and (1) 2651xm Router, Using 12.4 AdvEnt. 48MB Flash, 256MB Dram.
Used H2P to solidify my knowladge of what I covered in Route book. H2P is dead on! Used them for CCNA Composite, CCNP BCMSN, Now ROUTE.

Thanks H2P

Passed ROUTE 642-902 on 2nd attempt
Posted by: DriveOn - 06-22-2011, 03:59 PM - Forum: CCNP ENARSI 300-410 Forum - Replies (1)

Took and passed ROUTE with a score of 918 on the 2nd attempt.

The performance assessments were as follows:

Implement an EIGRP based solution 86%
Implement a multi-area OSPF network 78%
Implement an eBGP based solution 83%
Implement an IPv6 based solution 100%
Implement an IPv4 or IPv6 based redistribution solution 100%
Implement Layer 3 Path Control Solution 100%
Implement basic teleworker and branch services 100%

Both times I took the test there were simulation questions similar to Labs 3, 4, 6 & 7 and no testlets either time.

Looks like I was weakest with OSPF.  I believe the lab that I may not have completed correctly was the one similar to Lab #3.  Everything was okay except for configuring the totally stubby area.  It seems that the test calls for the area 2 to not receive any external or inter-area routes.  This is fine except that when you attempt to go to global config mode on the Lab C router (named differently on the test) it will not allow it.  Note that the routers are named differently on the test and the areas are numbered differently.

A fair word of warning regarding Lab #7:  H2P gives you the EIGRP metrics but the test expects you to look them up.  Not a major deal but if like me on the first attempt you are looking at the test timer and starting to feel a little stress it can become distracting.  When you actually look up the metrics on a real router (and on the test simulation) you get something like:

R2#show int s0/0/0
!<snip>
!MTU 1500 bytes, BW 128 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec, reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

?not exactly the same order that you would use in the redistribute eigrp 100 command.

My advice is if you don?t have a router, router simulator or router emulator is to practice each lab with NotePad or a word processor.  That way you?re not being helped by the practice lab prompts.  It?s okay to understand it but in the test environment you pretty much have to understand the topology and what is being accomplished in order to come out ahead of the timer.  The fact that you can?t go back to a question makes it difficult when you?re struggling with a lab.

The other thing that took time on the first attempt was the question where they gave a hexadecimal address and asked to convert it to decimal.  Basic things like that cost me the first time around.

Also used several resources for studying namely:

1) CCNP ROUTE 642-902 Official Certification Guide by Wendell Odom (Cisco Press)
2) CCNP ROUTE Portable Command Guide by Scott Empson & Hans Roth (Cisco Press)
3) Cisco CCNP ROUTE 642-902 Cert Flash Cards for my iPhone app
4) CBTNuggets Cisco 642-902 CCNP ROUTE CBT by Jeremy Cioara (excellent teacher)
5) GNS3 router emulation software
6) Boson ExSim-Max practice exams & test
7) Last but not least How2Pass subscription

How2Pass? labs are really close but Boson?s practice test does a much better job explaining the answers.  This will probably improve over time.  I submitted about ten explanations to H2P that I encountered.
